This is a 20-inch Yalambar Kirati King Khukuri. This khukuri is a new kirati successor in traditional series showcasing its sturdy and aesthetic design in elegant looks. This khukuri represents the proud heritage built by GGK for true traditional khukuri lovers.
"Yalambar" the first kirati king and a great warrior had established Kirati kingdom in modern-day Kathmandu valley in 1500 B.C. The Kiratas were original inhabitants of Nepal. Yalambar shifted his capital from Yalung to Thankot after conquering central Nepal and expanded his territory from river Trisuli in the west to river Tista in the east. He had great power and strength so to reduce the Mahabharat war Lord Krishna diplomatically cut off Yalambar's head. In his honour Indrajatra festival was put and his head is worshiped as god AAKASH BHAIRAB, centrally located at the heart of Kathmandu. Later his dynasty was succeeded by the Licchavi kingdom.
GGK has made this Yalambar khukuri keeping alive the history & legacy of this great warrior. With great imagination as well as trying to upkeep the traditional art and design alive in the blade, GGK hand forged this khukuri in modern aesthetics. The exquisitely built slender & lightweight blade is very agile delivering powerful cuts no less than any real chopper blades. The handle is a full tang carved with ridges and grooves for sturdy hold in the palms with more flexible swings. The full tang handle is tough enough to crack on any hard or light materials that come fore. The metal pommel and bolster are strong to withstand the heavy impact taken by the blade. The craftsmanship on this khukuri is amazing with stunning "Yalambar" insignia engraved at the Chhape mold atop the beautiful sheath.
The khukuri is accompanied by well built Karda and Chakmak of the highest quality. Karda is the sharp small knife which can be used to cut small woods, dig holes, skinning out animals. Similarly, we have Chakmak that can be used for honing the blade and striking sparks for fire.
It's really a dream come true for the passionate khukuri lovers and if you are looking for the finest quality khukuri. GGK guarantees that you will not be disappointed with this masterpiece.
